Polygamists in Texas
Hi from England. The first question is the more difficult one, and I struggled with it. But at the end of the day, we each have a duty to obey the laws of the country in which we live. Here in England, we do not permit polygamy, or indeed polyandry. Therefore, if people insist on going against the law, they must bear the consequences.
As for the second one, it just shows how silly religion is, that a sect that claims to worship and revere God, would rather let a little girl die, with her whole life ahead of her, than give her blood if she really needs it. The Jesus I recognise in the New Testament would condemn these Jehovah people.
Of course, this is not to suggest that blood is a magic cure-all. You have to weigh it up, what is best for the person having the treatment.
I don't really have a problem with a religion that allows polygamy. But I do have a problem with a religion that forces women into polygamous marriages or puts social pressure on men to take more than one wife.
