Is this wise to take away the name of God from our school teachings?
People seem to have a lot to say here. Here are some school-related scenarios that have actually happened to me or to people I know.
1) Reading silently from a Bible during a study hall and distributing Bibles on school property were both frowned upon.
2) During lunch periods that occured on Lenten Fridays, there were not any non-meat alternatives available. I would not necessarily call this giving Catholics preferential treatment, but rather catering to the majority of the population. I have heard that Christians from other denominations sometimes choose to follow the seasonal regulations on fast and abstinence.
3) A religiously affiliated charitable organization was was collecting money for a battered women's shelter was removed from school property.
Don't know about 1) and 3), but with regard to 2), schools have to by law provide a non-meat alternative to cater for vegetarians. Unless this law doesn't exist where you live, I find it hard to believe that there was no vegetarian option available. Just my view

I do have a problem with the distribution of Bibles on school property if it is a public school, as it is a form of prostletysing (I probably spelled that wrong).
As for 3), panhandling on school property is illegal.
Tralhob:
Panhandling... I like that term. Isn't running a church just dignified panhandling?
