Gender equality- 10 Questions
First of all, it's kind of hard to answer the question about Lorena Bobbitt, as I have no idea whether she was raped or not, or what happened in that case. This question should have included a "don't know" answer.
Here in England, the women's movement has been fairly successful over the last 30 or 40 years. There are now a lot more women in top jobs, and equal pay for work of equal value is a legal requirement. As a man, I generally welcome women's equality.
However, there are a number of areas where women already get a better deal than men. One example is pensions. Here in England, a woman can claim a state pension from the age of 60, but men must wait until they are 65. Also, women tend to do much better out of divorce settlements. They nearly always get custody of the kids, and often get to keep the house, whereas the men have to pay maintenance. These areas could do with being evened-out a bit.
