Religious Beliefs in Regards to Sex
Hi, thank you for voting in this poll. If you wish to do so, please tell us some of your thoughts about religion in the area of sexuality. Please do not leave any stories about your sexuality or ask for any pornography-related pictures or stories, only leave your thoughts about religion!
I've always wondered why the Judeo/Christian/Islamic religion is so against sex. And this from a religion that tells us to go forth and multiply!
Sex is ok. There's nothing evil about it. I mean it's not in the same league as genocide, or even theft now is it?
And the Judeo-Christian religion is not at all against sex. You stated elsewhere that you're a biblical scholar and evangelist... with comments like this, I begin to highly doubt whether you were much of a 'scholar.'
Have you actually read the bible?
On second thoughts read anything by Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins. The problem is that people like you are absolutely fine and really quite nice but it's because of you and people like you and your religious tolerance that creationist fundamentalists get away with taking control of right wing institutions and get away with killing doctors who refer women for abortions. I knew some really very tolerant christians who refused to accept that evolution was credible because it wasn't what the bible taught. They argued against scientific facts because it wasn't in the bible.
The bible tells us that sex outside marriage is wrong. Homosexuality is wrong. Master bation is wrong. Birth control is wrong. Safe sex is wrong - and the spread of HIV/AIDS in strictly religious (not just catholic) countries is an abominable example of that evil thinking. The innoculation against cervical cancer which would save thousands of women every year is banned in so many countries on religious grounds because "it will encourage women to have more sex". In fact any sex for any reason other than procreation is wrong. We are taught to feel guilty for finding someone else physically attractive. Women are told to dress so that they are not attractive to men. If a woman is raped in many countries it is seen as her fault, again on religious grounds because she made herself attractive to men so "she was asking for it" - that is simly not good enough!!!! All in the bible, all backed by the major religions and all the mainstream churches. At the same time we find that it's ok to offer a guest your wife or daughters for their use! Women are not equals but help metes. They are regarded as possessions, even below cattle, to be disposed of as the man wants - is that acceptable. I don't think so.
Before you say the bible doesn't teach that - it is there, if you don't know it is, you haven't read it. As I said before read it again from the start and don't skip Numbers or Deuteronomy just because they're not so nice.
