What Car Would Jesus Drive
It's funny that I'm not even a Christian, but I realize that if for some reason it were for real, Jesus would be a homeless, liberal illegal alien just like the first time. As part of the way Christianity is screwed up, many believe he would be a Republican that would drive a Rolls Royce and be in charge of a multinational conglomerate while denying people healthcare and advocating mass bombing of 3rd world countries. Please explain how I'm wrong....
You know I'm not so sure you're wrong. If Jesus came to this earth for the first time in the year 2008 then I guess that he would walk to, perhaps sit with the odd Republican, ride a horse and use whatever transport people were able to offer. I wonder what would you have offered Jesus or would you have turned Him away?
'Behold I stand at the door and knock.' Will you let Jesus ride with you?
Well, I'm one of those folks who will often offer someone food if they ask for change because they are hungry and will pick up hitch-hikers if they don't seem too shady. It would be hard to offer someone a place to stay, since my boyfriend and I live in a small apartment....So, would I turn Jesus away or let him ride with me? I guess it depends on the circumstances. Again, I'm not a Christian so it's all hypothetical...although IF he is like he is described in the bible, he actually seems pretty cool-so much so that I'm absolutely convinced that most of todays Christians would persecute him or worse!!
I agree. The Jesus of the Bible was a revolutionary character and most of the establishment would have hated Him.
The difference with Jesus was that He wasn't just a revolutionary He was God's Son. No one in all human history did more to prove this than Jesus. No revolutionary has ever turned water into wine or raised the dead or come back to life again.
While you live in a small apartment there is still room for Jesus to come and stay. You see he lives in the hearts of every true believer. He doesn't take up much room, and what car does he drive? Well look outside your window. Maybe he'll ride with you today?
Good try but it won't work. I have thought alot about religion and spirituality my whole life and have concluded, at least for now , that we humans can't comprehend the mysteries of our vast universe though we can certainly try. The Bible is full of many contradictions and seems more like an instrument of social control than an explaination of the universe. While Jesus may have lived and done the things he did, I don't accept the theory that he is god or the son of god any more than anyone else is. I do agree with you that if the documentation of his life is true, that he is a revolutionary character. I hope I'm not offending you, but these are just my beliefs, and I don't think I'm a good candidate for an on-line conversion. I'm open to continuing the conversation though. BTW: it probably sounds like I'm an atheist but I actually am spiritual-just more in a "Pagan" sense.
