Where will you spend eternity?

Please include "don't know"

Hi there. I do wish pollsters would include the answer "don't know" in this kind of poll. I have been pondering this kind of question for many years, and I still don't know the answer. Each religion gives a different answer, and I guess none of us know for sure. If the answer were proven, people would see the proof, and all the other religions would collapse. But there is no proof! None. A happy new year to you.

I agree that they should include "I don't know" especially for such a big question. However, if there is no support for a factual claim, especially the really big ones that religions make, there is also no reason to believe it. If you want proof about what happens to us when we die, then science has some answers. Our memory, personality, and everything that we might consider to constitute a "soul" are produced by the brain. Therefore, the fact that the brain dies and decomposes is pretty good proof that there is no afterlife. It's sort of a scary answer, but as far as I can tell it is also a pretty sound one.

Agreed

Don't know is needed but in your case you've tried to find out. Have you ever wanted to know what diving is all about? You can study it but until you take the plunge you'll never know. It's a bit like that with faith.

Take the plunge and you'll see.

Important to make the right selection however. Not all roads lead to the same place.

How can one make the "right selection"?

All the possibilities contradict each other yet each claims it is the right one.

If there were a true religion, there would be only one religion.

Not necessarily. It is entirely possible that billions of people can be wrong, and that there is a true religion.
