Is there REALLY a war against Christianity?

If you search this site, you might be able to find the old case of a British Airways employee that was sent home without pay for wearing a small cross to work.

I understand that there are probably a few examples of how people may be unjustly discriminated against for personal displays of their Christian faith, but Bill O'Reily claims every year that there is actually an organized war against both Christmas and Christianity. I just don't see it. I am a "card carrying member of the ACLU" and on the mailing lists of many of the organizations that are allegedly carrying out this "war" and have a hard time imagining how if I were a Christian, I would be oppressed by such organizations. Here's an interesting nugget of info: There is only ONE openly Atheist member of Congress, no Pagans, Buddhists, or Hindus, and just one Muslim (and it's not Obama). I don't know of a single presidential candidate besides Leiberman who got anywhere (and he didn't get too far either) that wasn't a Christian. I don't even know why a greeting like "happy holidays" which is a non-assuming acknowledgement that the recipient of the greeting could theoretically celebrate one of a large variety of "Winter Solstice time of the year" holidays is seen as offensive. As a hard to label non deist Pagan type, I never get offended when someone wishes me Merry Christmas-in fact I usually return the greeting just to be polite.

I'm going on vacation tomorrow and not taking my laptop (a REAL vacation). I do wish to continue this rather interesting conversation, but it may take me a week to respond.

Even on my vacation, I can't get over my Misterpoll addiction. You have a good point, but I think there is a differance between people being mad about/against Christianity, and there being an actual organized war.

About my spelling-yikes! I used to be very good at spelling-I don't know what happened (LOL)! Unfortunately, if I correct spelling in a poll that I make, the poll is taken off for a LONG time, but thanks for the correction.
