Should wife pay rent?

In a marriage there is no his or her income. What dictate that HE has to contribute to the rent and not SHE???? Let him put ALL his income and she puts ALL hers in a pot, and pay all family expenses. What's over they share. BUT this would also be true when he gets an income later. After a divorce she would get half anyway.
