Who sucks the least?
I've had DirecTV since 1994 and have never regretted nuking the cable company. There are some issues with them -- notably that their HD DVR has a number of bugs (although much better than it was) -- it smacks of a bad design patched to adequacy. Their current HD is better than most cable, but they promise a Big Bang in September.
Having said that, every last person who has Verizon Fios (fiber to the premises) says it's the best. Of course you have to live in a Verizon area, which I don't. If you do, check out a friend or neighbor who has it. Otherwise it's DirecTV. ALL cable blows.
Yes, FIOS rocks! I've had it for a month, recently tossing the Comcrap out. For 18 months they were unable to make my premium channels show up reliably.
Cheaper, more channels, FAR better image, friendly (so far) service people. What's not to like? Well, there's limited availability. I switched as soon as service opened in our neighborhood.
