How the world will end

Great questions! There is no doubt in my mind that our race must surely die--all species do, hell, all THINGS do--and that we will bring it on ourselves, whether through massive destruction of the environment (including but not limited to global warming) and/or nuclear war. I guess the second scenario kinda contains the first within it. I'm undecided as to whether this will happen in 100-500 years, or 500-1000. I guess I lean toward right around 500 more years for us on this planet.

Yeah, interesting poll. I personally believe that massive environmental problems will kick-in on this planet within the next 25 years, but of course, it will not kill everybody. There are now large numbers of multi-millionaires, who could afford to build large underground shelters and breathe filtered or synthesized air, if they really had to. I certainly think that problems may well occur which could drastically reduce the human population of the planet, but as for wiping it out altogether, I doubt it. I used to think that nuclear war was the biggest threat we faced, but with the collapse of the Soviet Union a world nuclear war now seems unlikely. Of course, it could still occur locally, i.e. in the Middle East, causing massive damage but not making humankind extinct. I now believe global warming and climate change is the biggest threat we face. The weather is changing here in England - every year is getting hotter and drier. If it continues we are in BIG trouble!!!

I remember the population when it was over 2 billion. It could almost quadruple in my lifetime to around 9 billion by 2050. May as well be 9 gazillion.

Now imagine when population is huge, systems collapse under the chaos, and food is very rare.

Extinct species of both animals and plants almost immediately by both the starving mob and high-tech over-harvest.

Well I think the humans will slowly kill theselves by wasting and abusing all of there natural resorces. There are only so many on this tiny planet we live on and humans are so resorcefull that they will delay death for a long time untill inevitablly they swindell themselves into obsoleation and extinction. Technology will not be able to save us in the end.
