How does the poll creator view "fill in the blank" results?? Also, Is there a way to make multiple choice voting results private?? Thanks for your time and resource!
To view fill-in-the-blank or essay answers, you must download the results. If you are logged into your account, you will see a download link whenever you view your own poll's results. There is not currently a way to make all results private, but that's not a bad idea. I'll look into making that an option.
If you decide to allow the results to be made private, I would suggest that you indicate that before someone takes the poll. I know there are polls I would not take if I couldn't see the reults.
Why would you make the results private??? that's just stupid! You're stupid! So stupid!! STUPID!!! (PS Click on my name at the top of this message box for a list of my polls!)
Most individuals probably wouldn't, but a company gathering opinions or feedback about their company, products, web site, beta testing, etc, may choose to keep the results private. Also, keeping the results open does allow the possibility that people could view the results before they vote, thus potentially biasing the way they might vote. One could argue that if you want the greatest chance at unbiased results, you should keep the results closed until the "end" of your poll.
Of course that only applies for polls that are less interested in entertainment value and more interested in using the results for a serious purpose. As a few of you have pointed out, closing the results can have a negative impact on the number of votes you receive, at least from a certain type of voter. It's a balancing act, and it's up to the poll creator to decide which is most important to them.
Once we introduce that feature, or course. :-)
