Yes, at last, Mister Poll 2.0 has launched! I think you'll all agree that the old site was looking a bit dusty and needed more than a little makeover. Well, we actually scrapped it and redesigned it all from the ground up. Not only does the whole place look much better, but it works much better, too. We have new question types, such as fill-in-the-blank and essay. Nearly every feature has been enhanced. Take a look around and let us know what you think.

A big thanks to everybody who helped us test during the beta period. Your help made this a notably better release. Thank you to everybody who has used Mister Poll over the last 10 years. You are the ones who make this site possible, and your suggestions are what shaped this new beginning.

Here's to another 10 years.

Hi'ya,

Changes look nice, but I think there's been a major **-up. (Excuse my self-censored French)

In the past when a poll author deleted spammers' messages, they were gone immediately. After looking at a few polls, it now looks like previously deleted messages are somehow all back. Why do you guys save messages and topics that were deleted?

And you really should make it easier for poll authors to delete spam. Like multiple thread selection and deletion or allow authors to delete all posts on her poll by a specific spammer.

Looks like you have more work to do.

Luv,

Ashley,

Can you point me to a place where previously deleted messages have come back, or at least some place where you suspect it's happened? If that is the case, it was a bug in the conversion from the old database to the new one, and I should be able to fix it.

Thanks!

Hi'ya,

Here's just a small example. My friend Libby noticed this on one of her polls.

http://www.misterpoll.com/forums/95261

She had deleted all but the 'Thanks for visiting my poll' thread. But today they all came back, including several additional threads that were very demeaning (and which she deleted again today).

We've noticed the same thing happening on many polls, including polls that are both private and public.

You guys also need to have something like a check-off box that would enable poll authors to delete multiple threads at once. Spammers can easily create multiple messages. And right now it takes longer to delete them than it does to create them. Turn this around and the spammers will go back to playing with themselves (Sorry! I'd actually really have liked to said something even more graphic and had to bite my tongue - lol!).

The edit feature is nice. Is there a time limit on editing posts? And will locking a thread prevent all edits in that thread (I think it should).

The time of the posting is off, too. It used to be Eastern Time.

Luv,

+Ashley+

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the link. It definitely helped me confirm that there was a conversion issue with some of the deleted messages. It's not an ongoing issue with the new site, and I think it will be relatively easy to fix. I'll post again here when it's patched up. Thanks for pointing it out.

As to your other questions:

There is no time limit on editing posts. Perhaps there should be, but there isn't currently.

Locking a thread does prevent edits, but not deletes. We get too many requests from people who posted questionable things in their youth, grow up, finish college, and it comes back to haunt them when they start interviewing for jobs. Then they panic and want to start cleaning up their Google trail. We think people should be able to do that on their own, even if a forum owner tries to lock them out.

I'll make a note of your request for easier mass delete features.
